Decorex in Bitesize
Nadine and I did Decorex in a record-breaking time this year, having a short slot in between client meetings. It’s cool though, we are fantastic scanners and came away with exactly what we want to extract from a trade show. Thank goodness it is back in old trusty, Olympia, where it is closer and more manageable.
Seeing the suppliers that we use is good, but we already have a relationship with them and receive new product updates. Past this there is a lot of interesting and wonderful design, not appropriate for our kind of projects. Then you have the Gems; the exciting discoveries which we will be specifying at the next opportunity. This is what a trade fair is all about, and we generously want to share them with you!
Numero uno is patterned fabrics. As we have recently written about, maximalism is popular, and at the heart of it is pattern. We swooned over Charlotte Gaisford and Parker and Jules. Both selections, have classical wallpaper and fabric patterns with a modern feel, and plenty of colour palettes.
Next one to rugmember is A Rum Fellow. They are a five-year-old studio producing folklore – inspired patterns (yes more patterns - told you maxi’ is big). Good rugs often come with an eye watering price tag however these are reasonably priced.
Nadine was thrilled to see the very French Drucker chairs. The colour range and weaved texture is so on trend. And we have just discovered that they also have beautiful statement headboards.
Around the Tree had a couple of chairs on display that made us go “mmmmmmmm”. They are a lovely example of proud craftsmanship.
Lastly, to put lighting in the mix, and to emphasise the vast colour combo trend that we are experiencing – we have Curiousa & Curiousa. They offer the most wonderful selection of coloured glass pendants.
